Privacy notice
People bring hard things here, so we keep as little as we can. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and we don’t sell anyone’s data. What Would Stoics Do is a product of Hacked Ventures.

Your question
We don’t store your question. It is checked on our server for signs that you may be in danger, then sent to Anthropic’s API to choose passages and write the labelled commentary. It is not saved to our database or written to our logs, and we don’t use it to train AI models. Anthropic’s handling of that data is covered by its privacy policy.
Your browser keeps your latest answer in the current tab, so it survives a page reload. It is cleared when you ask something new or close the tab. Please leave out names and details that would identify you or anyone else.
The daily limit
To keep the site free, there is a daily limit on questions. To count them, we set one cookie, wwsd_anon, holding a random ID that lasts up to 12 months. We count against a salted one-way hash of that ID and of your IP address, so we never store the IP address itself. These counts, and a few similar ones that stop abuse, are deleted after about 7 days.
Feedback and analytics
If you rate an answer, we store the rating, any reason you pick from our list, which passages were shown and a hashed reference to the answer. Never your question.
We may count visits with PostHog. It is cookie-less, uses a random ID that is forgotten when you close the tab, builds no profile of you, and is never sent your question, your answer or anything else you type.
Who runs what
- Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host, it handles technical data such as IP addresses to serve pages.
- Neon hosts our database: published answers, feedback ratings and the hashed daily counts.
- Anthropic writes answers and anonymises shared ones, as described above.
Questions and requests
To ask what we hold, have something deleted or ask anything else about privacy, email stoic@hacked.ventures. Because we keep no questions and no accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. If we change how we use data, we will update this page and the date above. See also our terms.
